2nd Hand Geek Leadership Update - July 19, 2025

2nd Hand Geek Announces Leadership Update Following ATC Incident

Former COO and founding minority owner Blake Hawkey steps back from all operational and public-facing roles; company reaffirms commitment to fair play.

Greenville, SC — July 19, 2025. 2nd Hand Geek is announcing a leadership change in response to an incident at the American Team Championship (ATC) in which dice used in play by founding partner Blake Hawkey were found to be non-compliant with event standards. While intent aside, integrity in competitive tabletop gaming is essential to our mission and community.

Effective immediately, Hawkey is voluntarily stepping down and no longer serving as Chief Operating Officer or in any capacity with 2nd Hand Geek. He will not represent the company at events, in media, sponsorship outreach, or customer communications. Hawkey remains a minority equity owner.

Hawkey has apologized to ATC event organizers and his teammates and has accepted the event rulings.

Policy Actions Underway

2nd Hand Geek is:

  • Reviewing internal governance and communications policies to prevent confusion over who speaks for the company.
  • Internal review of company event participation guidelines and fair play expectations for any representative.
  • Maintaining open lines for tournament organizers, sellers, and community members with questions or concerns.

We will share additional updates as needed.
